The automotive parts industry in China has mainly gone through four stages of development. The Seventh Five Year Plan (1986-1990) established 50 specialized automobile parts enterprises and 26 research institutes with the level of the 1980s through technological transformation. During this period, China's automotive component products not only met the basic needs of domestic loading and maintenance, but also entered the international market for some component products.
The Eighth Five Year Plan (1991-1995) comprehensively planned more than 30 component enterprises that have introduced technology, have been well digested and absorbed, have been equipped with sedans, and military enterprises have been well equipped with automobiles. It is planned that 50 of them can become "small giant" enterprises with international competitiveness.
In the Ninth Five Year Plan (1996-2000), more than 20 products with a market share of over 25% or a blank in the domestic market for key components of sedans are supported by the government to develop towards the goal of economic scale. In addition, the country will also provide appropriate support for more than 30 other key automotive components, enabling a group of enterprises to quickly expand product scale and improve product level, and for this purpose, carry out technology introduction and transformation.
The Tenth Five Year Plan (2001-2005) aims to cultivate 5-10 large-scale component enterprise groups that are beginning to gain international competitiveness. The top three key component companies have a domestic market share of 70%, and the export value of components accounts for 20% of their total sales.
During the 11th Five Year Plan (2006-2010), China will focus on the research and development of key technologies for hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles, pure electric vehicles, complete vehicles and components, and promote the industrialization of energy-saving and environmentally friendly locomotives.
The 12th Five Year Plan (2011-2015) supports backbone enterprises in automotive parts to expand their scale through mergers and acquisitions, and increase their market share in domestic and foreign automotive accessories.
The 13th Five Year Plan (2016-2020) aims to achieve coordinated development across the entire industry chain, establish a complete industrial system and independent research and development capabilities from the entire vehicle to key components, and form an independent supply capacity for core key components of Chinese brands; The key components, core materials, and components used for new energy vehicles, intelligent connected vehicles, and energy-saving vehicles have a local matching rate of over 60%.
The industrial and supply chains of the 14th Five Year Plan (2021-2025) will basically achieve safety and controllability, and innovation capabilities will be further strengthened. Key technologies will achieve significant breakthroughs, and some key technologies will be internationally prepared
